About David Cumberbatch
Bijou was her name. In French, Bijou means JEWEL; she was also my mother. When I was nine years old, I visited PARIS for the first time with my mother. As an inquisitive and observant boy, I asked her, “Where are all the people that look like us?” She replied, “David, I’m not sure, but they are here!” From that young age, a spark was ignited within me -- my love of travel and a desire to explore what is BEYOND the surface of my adventures.
While at Dartmouth College, I was privileged to study abroad and live with a family in Arles, a city in the South of France. In between studying French culture, history, language, and literature, I spent almost every weekend in Paris exploring its different arrondissements (neighborhoods).
After graduating Howard Law School, to alleviate the stress of practicing criminal, juvenile, and family law, I began to travel again to bring balance, beauty, and joy into my life. I also worked for an international airline travelling extensively in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Travel has always been my passion but working for the airline, while practicing law, allowed me to make a life of travel a reality.
Paris always held a special place in my mother’s heart. I would always return to Paris because I love it just like she did. Paris is a city where many sites remain the same like the Louvre, Montmartre, Versailles, and the Eiffel Tower; yet it is the vanguard of new trends in the worlds of art, food, and fashion.
With over 40 years of travel experience, it is my pleasure and an honor to show my guests the SOUL of Paris, Italy, Egypt, and Africa.
