Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

FAQs SECTION

What should I pack for Zanzibar?

Pack LIGHT! Of course, a swimsuit and sunscreen! And don’t’ forget those flip-flops! Since this island is predominately inhibited by Muslims, please wear modest clothing when you are not on the beach. Breathable t-shirts, shirts, loose pant, skirts and dresses. Rain jacket and umbrella in case it rains. Sturdy shoes or sneakers like Clarks, Hokia or Skechers. Sandals. Shorts. But don’t forget to pack fragrance free lotion and plenty of BUG SPRAY! SUNSCREEN! Hat with UV protection. Sunglasses with UV protection. One nice outfit for our farewell dinner.

Are there any health and vaccination requirements?

Yes, some vaccines are recommended or required for Tanzania. The CDC and WHO recommend the following vaccinations for Tanzania: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, yellow fever, rabies, meningitis, polio, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis), chickenpox, shingles, pneumonia and influenza. It is recommended that you visit your doctor at least 8 weeks prior to departure for more detailed advice. Some vaccinations are highly recommended for travel to this region of the world. The government of Tanzania requires proof of yellow fever vaccination upon arrival if you are traveling from a country with a risk of yellow fever. This situation will apply if you have a 2 or 3 day layover or visit to a country with a risk of yellow fever. However, if you are traveling directly from the United States and transit through another country, it is NOT REQUIRED.

Can the itinerary be customized?

This trip can be customized. There are two free days during this excursion. There are plenty of activities and tours to choose from: Jozani Forest Tour is a half day guided adventure, including the rare Red Colobus Monkeys that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world, a nature walk, and mangroves; Blue Safari Tour is a full day full sea adventure in a traditional dhow (sailboat), including lunch, swimming and snorkeling; and Nakupenda Sandbank, 20 minutes from Stone Town, is where you can relax, lunch, swim, snorkel, and Instagram in the middle of Indian Ocean. Please feel to let us know if you would like to do any of these special activities.

What are the visa and entry requirements for Zanzibar?

If you are visiting Zanzibar, your passport should be valid for 6 months from the date of arrival. Check with your airline to make sure your passport and other travel documents meet their requirement, especially if you are transferring between flights in Europe, Kenya, Ethiopia or another country. Most foreign passport holders need a tourist or business visa to enter Tanzania. Tanzania has an e-visa system through which applications can be submitted and approved online in advance of travel.

How is the weather during your stay in Zanzibar?

Hopefully, the weather will be beautiful. The average temperature in September is 70F – 80F.

What are the payment terms and cancellation policy?

See deposit and payment plan above. PS&B highly recommends “cancel for any reason” travel insurance. This type of travel insurance allows you to cancel your trip for any reason up to two days prior to your scheduled departure.

Are children allowed on the tour, and are there any age restrictions?

All children under the age of 18 children must be accompanied and supervisor by an adult. The minimum age to participate in this trip is thirteen (13) years old.
